This week we will work through final logistics for our Coastal Campout including loading the trailer to speed up our departure on Friday morning. Make sure your son brings their completed permission slip and money to the meeting. Note, if your son doesnt have Friday off but wants to attend, we do have some folks going down late on Friday or early Saturday morning. Come by the office during tomorrows meeting to discuss with the OF. For those aged 14 (and up) and First Class rank, the First Aid merit badge will continue at 7:00 pm Tuesday. If you missed last week, you can still join. This is an intense, Eagle required merit badge with a lot of self-study material over several months to complete. Upcoming events Coastal Campout over fall break (10/9-10/12) sign up now on the troop website! We have a special campout planned for October which requires a bit more logistical planning, thus we would like you to sign up early through the registration section of the troop website (under Members) so we have a good headcount - direct link http://www.troop17.net/link?25. Please reach out to Mr. Rekieta (kenrek4@att.net) if you do not have a login. Campout highlights - We will camp at Goose Island State Park and spend Saturday enjoying fishing, crabbing and relaxing, plus a visit to The Big Tree (the oldest Live Oak in Texas). Then on Sunday we will head to Port Aransas for a day at the beach with swimming, fishing, boogie boarding and a stop at the souvenir shop on the way back to camp. The OF will be hosting a shrimp boil and fish fry for a couple of our dinners in camp. Monday we will pack up and head home with a BBQ lunch stop in Lockhart Texas on the way back. The cost for this campout will be $75. We will meet at the scout lodge to depart on the bus on Friday morning and return on Monday afternoon/evening. If your son doesnt have the same fall break schedule but is interested in going, please let Mr. Virden (virden@flash.net) or Mr. Nelson know (andycnelson@gmail.com). There is the possibility we may have some folks driving out separately Saturday morning or coming back Sunday evening . Summer Camp, new reservation mark your calendars! We have summer camp week 1, 6/6-6/12 (same date as previously published) reserved at Camp Constantin on Possum Kingdom Lake. There will be over 50 merit badges available plus lots of aquatics activities on Possum Kingdom Lake including a blob!
