This will be a lengthy update on the Troop calendar. Please at least skim the paragraph headings for items that may be of special interest to you and your family. All of these are posted to the Troop calendar (www.troop17.net/calendar). Scout Sunday February 2nd 10:30 at St. Stephen. All Scouts are requested to attend. Families are cordially invited also. St. Stephen is our Chartered Organization and has been very supportive of us and our program. Please come at 10:30 in FULL class A uniform (with sash if you have one). We will walk in and sit together. Bake Sale February 2nd as part of our Scout Sunday celebration, we will have a bake sale immediately after the 11:00 am service. Please bring wrapped and priced baked goods to St. Stephen before or during the service. If someone is willing to coordinate this event, please let Mr. Turner know. Court of Honor - February 18th 7:30-9:00 pm. Everyone is invited to attend Troop 17s Court of Honor. It will be held up the hill in the sanctuary. Scouts should come in their full Class A uniform (with sash if you have one). Parents are strongly encouraged to attend. We will also have a Friends of Scouting presentation that evening. Rocketry Campout February 7-9th. All rockets must be inspected PRIOR to the weekend. Please bring your assembled rocket to any meeting and have Mr. Goldthwaite inspect it. Worth Ranch Camp Staff Interviews : Feb 16th. 2014 Program Director Zach Wisch reports that they have received a lot of interest in serving on camp staff. The positions are filling fast, any person interested in joining the 2014 WR camp staff should not delay an interview. Please contact Mr. Turner for more information. WR Camp Master School: Saturday April 12th. Contact Mr. Tom Lucas or Mr. Turner to sign up or get more information. The camp master program is intended to improve the experiences of the troops camping at Worth Ranch by improving communication and service while at camp. Mr. Turner attended the first session and found it very informative. If you are interested, he can provide additional information. Worth Ranch Work Days: Prior to Summer Camp 2014 (see www.worthranch.com for more information) - March 1st, April 5th, May 10th Canoeing Campout March 21-23 Back to the Brazos! NRA Training coming in March no firm date yet. We are hoping to have several adults attend as we do not have any current adults with the NRA certification so that we can hold our own shooting sports campout. The next month, the Troop has scheduled a shooting sports event that we will need NRA trained individuals for. Summer Camp mark your calendars now June 22nd June 28th, The Big Adventure at Worth Ranch. 2014 High Adventure Trip save the last two weeks of July for Troop 17s return to Red River, New Mexico! We are confirming plans for an exciting trek up Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico. This trip is open to all Scouts.
